The CITB Health & Safety Awareness course provides a basic introduction to understanding potential construction site hazards and how everyone can contribute to keeping the workplace safe. Delegates who require the CSCS Green Labourer Card to get on a construction site. It is ideal for those who work in construction or are looking to start a career in construction

What is the objective of the course?

This course highlights potential hazards when working on site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employer's responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyone's health and safety is being put at risk.

This course provides health and safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.

At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:

  • the need to prevent accidents
  • health and safety law
  • how your role fits into the control and management of the site
  • risk assessments and method statements
  • performing safely and asking for advice
  • how to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident


Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

Duration Details - The one-day CITB Health & Safety Awareness is used as one of the steps towards gaining the Green Labourer card. The Health & Safety Awareness is a classroom course and can be completed before or after the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test. You can use the classroom course as a useful revision session to assist you in passing if you attend it before your touch screen test. The course can also be used as a refresher for those who are coming back into the industry.
